Children's Choir

Lyric Opera Northwest Youth Choir strives to change lives through a multitude of choral concerts. Additionally, if interested, there is a competition for opportunities to participate in Lyric Opera Northwest’s upcoming productions of the Broadway musical “Oliver!” and the operas of Mozart’s “Magic Flute” and Humperdink’s “Hansel and Gretel” with full orchestra, costumes and sets at the Meydenbauer Center and the Federal Way Performing Arts Center.

Singing

Along with multiple choir concerts throughout the year, the Broadway musical "Oliver!" with costumes, sets and orchestra will take place at the Meydenbauer Center next fall of 2021, provided safety regulations are no longer in effect. If they still are, "Oliver!" will be held at a later date. Many children may wish to compete for roles in these productions, an opportunity, perhaps for the first time in their lives, to be involved in a full production.

"Magic Flute" and "Hansel and Gretel" will be produced after "Oliver!" Applications for the LONW Youth Chorus can be found at the "Application and Tuition" page above. We invite youths ages 4 to 17 (Pre-K through 12th Grade) to apply. Class structure will depend upon age, skills, serious intent
Vocal Music Training

We have 4 teachers on staff to instruct the children, Chorus Master David Spring, professional singers Veronica Olson and Michael Nim and Pamela Casella, international artist and co-founder of Lyric Opera Northwest. Mr. Nim and Ms. Casella were responsible for the engagement of youth choirs in multiple Lyric Opera Northwest productions for 15 years, and in addition for the past three years the artistic development of the LMC Children’s Choir. Craig H. Nim will administer the organization and be musical consultant to the program.

The spring semester will run from March 13, 2021 until June 12, 2021.
